Green Peter Reservoir

 Fishing Tips:

Green Peter has been revived again! Central Valley Bass Club of Salem spent a few years trying to improve bass habitat at this lake and the quality of fish over the past few years continues to increase. Stumps and creek channels seem to be the main target areas for bass. The lake is deep and can drop to over 100 feet in many areas not far from the bank. Stump flats exist in most of the arms, but finding them is easiest when the water drops down in the fall. Thistle Creek arm is overlooked quite often because of the desire to escape the boat ramp and get out on the main lake. I have had some of my best fishing days here without getting on the main body. Drop shot the deep points and ridges as the water level is drawn down. The fish will pull off the bank and can be found often times in deep water. The easiest way to find what depth they are at is to position the boat up shallow and fish out which brings the bait up the various depth ranges until a pattern is discovered.

Recent Trips:

9-16-07... Water temp. 70 - water level was low enough that most of the stump flats were dry.
Caught several fish drop shotting a 6 inch green pumpkin lizard in 25-40 feet of water around rocky points and walls.
Largest fish I caught was 2.67 largemouth. Big fish of the tournament (3 lbs) was caught on a buzzbait.
** special note** I caught 2 smallmouth and I know several others were caught and released.
